About Us

2D map of Michigan showing NASW-MI's Region locations

The Michigan Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers has over 5,000 members who live and work in the State of Michigan. We support the state's more than 30,000 licensed social workers and 6,500 students in social work programs.

The Chapter works with allied organizations to build coalitions, advocate for the behavioral health workforce, expand educational opportunities, and promote causes and services that improve society. NASW-Michigan works to get social workers and our allies elected to all levels of office, as well as helps shape legislation that advances and supports the social work profession, our clients, and the communities in which we live.

Our office is located in Downtown Lansing (741 N Cedar St, Suite 100) just a few blocks from the state capital. Our state Chapter is then broken into 11 regions, each with a Regional Representative. Learn more about our Board of Directors and staff

Our Mission

The mission of NASW-Michigan is to support, promote and advocate for professional social work practice, practitioners and the social work profession, to improve the quality of life for the people of Michigan.
