Applications Now Open: NASW-Michigan Student Leadership in Diversity Scholarship

The Michigan Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW-Michigan) is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the Student Leadership in Diversity Scholarship.

Each year, NASW-Michigan awards two scholarships - one to a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) student and one to a Master of Social Work (MSW) student - who are demonstrating leadership in advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice within their communities and the profession.

The scholarship recognizes students who are not only academically strong, but who are actively engaged in projects, research, or advocacy initiatives that reflect the core values of social work and the NASW Code of Ethics. Through this opportunity, NASW-Michigan aims to uplift and support emerging leaders who are working to create a more just and equitable future.

Each selected recipient will receive a $500 scholarship and be recognized during NASW-Michigan’s virtual Legislative Education & Advocacy Day (LEAD) this October.

“At NASW-Michigan, we are proud to support the next generation of social work leaders who are driving meaningful change in their communities,” said Kaelyn Lewis, Director of Membership & Communications at NASW-Michigan. “This scholarship is an opportunity to invest in students who are already embodying the values of our profession and making a real impact through their commitment to diversity and social justice.”

Eligible applicants must be members of NASW-Michigan and accepted into an accredited BSW or MSW program. Applications require a biographical essay, letters of support, and an academic transcript.

The application deadline is August 1, and recipients will be notified by early September.
