NASW-Michigan would like to acknowledge this week as
Transgender Awareness Week. This is a time when transgender people and their allies intentionally recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of individuals who identify as part of the transgender community and take action against all forms of transphobia including discrimination & prejudice, anti-transgender violence, and transphobic policy & legislation at all levels.
We feel it's also important to also acknowledge
stories and experiences of members of the transgender community
to educate and bring visibility to this community:
33 trans people who are loud, proud, and making the world a better place
First trans man elected to a state legislature
Looking ahead -
International Transgender Day of Remembrance
will be recognized on Sunday, November 20, 2022
