Hi social work friends!

My name is Sean Rositano and I wanted to introduce myself as the new Field Organizer for NASW-Michigan’s political action committee, M-PACE. I have a broadcast degree from Central Michigan University and after 8 years of working in production and gaining more knowledge about our political systems I decided to get my MSW at the University of Michigan. I am currently focusing my degree on policy and political social work, and am planning to graduate in April 2023 . I am beyond excited to work this fall to elect social workers and those that share our values!

But enough about me. Let’s talk about you!

On Saturday, October 8th, social workers from all over the state will participate in a coordinated get-out-the-vote effort for key candidates for the Michigan Legislature and Congress! M-PACE has been working hard this year researching, connecting with, and endorsing candidates, as well as creating ways for social workers to get involved in critical races. This November, we have a real opportunity to elect more social workers across the state, as well as increase the number of social work friendly candidates at all levels of government. Plus, we have an opportunity across our communities to hype voting “yes” on Proposals 2 and 3

From Traverse City to Lansing, from Grand Rapids to Saginaw, and from Mount Pleasant to Sterling Heights, we have a candidate for you. There will be many opportunities to be engaged, from door knocking and phone banking, just to mention a few.

In order for us to be successful this year we need YOU to volunteer today for October 8th! Sign up below, and we’ll contact you shortly about your day of action plan!

M-PACE is in the process of finalizing the details with each of the campaigns we will be targeting, so please let us know which location you are most interested in assisting with and we will follow up with details as soon as possible.

All social work is political. Whether we’re focused on providing critical resources to our clients, enhancing behavioral health services, aiding under-served communities, expanding voting rights, or being an elected official, policy and legislation affect all our work and the people we serve.

So thank you for taking the time to volunteer and make a difference for Michigan! I look forward to seeing you on the 8th.

Sincerely,

Sean Rositano, Field Organizer
