This week, Politico reported a draft of the Supreme Court’s decision is circulating internally to strike down Roe v Wade (

). Abortion access is a social work and social justice issue that demands our attention. While a final opinion by the Court has not officially been released, NASW remains resolute in its commitment to protect reproductive rights and freedoms as
outlined in our 2021 Blueprint of Federal Social Policy Priorities
. NASW affirms all individuals have a right to bodily autonomy, that abortion is health care, and that all individuals have the right to freedom of choice in accessing essential health care services most especially their reproductive health.
In the coming months we need everyone to engage in the advocacy work for social workers to protect reproductive health as a human right, particularly in Michigan. We will post more about how to get involved. In the meantime here are some resources:
Sign the Petition.
Help Reproductive Freedom for All
qualify for the November 2022 Ballot by signing the petition! Their proposal will affirm that every person has the fundamental right to reproductive freedom, which involves the right to make and carry out decisions without
political interference about all matters relating to pregnancy, including birth control, abortion, infertility, miscarriage care, prenatal care, and childbirth. Sign the petition or get involved in the campaign at

. (The Reproductive Freedom for All campaign has been endorsed by M-PACE, the political action committee of NASW-Michigan)
