Social Workers Sought for NASW-Michigan Board Positions

NASW-Michigan seeks engaging and passionate Michigan social workers to serve on our Board of Directors! Volunteering as an ambassador of the association and profession is a great opportunity to network and grow as a social worker, as well as to make a difference in social work in our state. NASW-Michigan is fiscally stable and organizationally sound as a result of incredible leadership and staff, and it is our aim to remain THE association advocating for and supporting social workers in Michigan! The NASW-Michigan Board of Directors is composed of 19 Board members who are elected by our Chapter membership. All Board members serve 3 year terms with the exception of the Member-At-Large and BSW and MSW student representatives, who hold one year terms. Board terms follow the Chapter fiscal year which begins July 1 and ends June 30 each year. NASW-Michigan and the social work profession need your involvement! By applying for the Board you will: Help advance and strengthen the social work profession Provide critical guidance on Chapter strategic planning (including helping influence policy and programmatic decisions) Become a visible presence for the social work community in your region and expand your network with social workers all across the state Expand your social work skillset through opportunities to engage in statewide webinars, workshops, and conferences Connect with NASW-Michigan staff and volunteers

- Region 2 Representative - (Northwest Michigan - Emmet, Charlevoix, Antrim, Kalkaska, Missaukee, Osceola, Lake, Mason, Manistee, Wexford, Grand Traverse, Benzie, Leelanau) (3 year term)
- Region 5 Representative - (Clare, Gladwin, Arenac, Isabella, Midland, Bay, Gratiot, Saginaw Counties) (3 year term)
- Region 8 Representative - (Oakland and Macomb Counties) (3 year term)
- BSW Student Representative (1 year term)
- MSW Student Representative (1 year term)
- Member at Large (1 year term)

Candidates will need to include a 250 word (maximum) goal statement and submit a headshot to dbreijak.naswmi@socialworkers.org. The 2022 NASW-Michigan Chapter election will run from April 22 - May 13, 2022. All candidates will be notified of election results by June 1, with new officers beginning their positions July 1. Board of Directors time commitments: The NASW-Michigan Board of Directors currently meetings on the second Thursday of each month from 6:30-8:30pm (virtually) Executive Committee members additionally meet once a month (prior to the Board meeting) Special committee meetings as assigned
