Welcoming Our Next Executive Director, Duane Breijak!

Please join us in welcoming Duane Breijak, LMSW-Macro as the incoming Executive Director of the Michigan Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers!

For the last nine years Duane has served social workers as the Director of Member Services & Development for NASW-Michigan. In that role, Duane initiated and executed the recruitment and retention strategies of the chapter, implemented inventive new programming and data collection, designed and managed website and social media platforms, assisted on grant projects, and collaborated with individuals, organizations, schools, as well as other chapters to support social workers at all ages and types of practice.

He is a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Social Work, where he focused on Policy and Evaluation in Community and Social Systems and minored in Community Organization. Duane has served active roles as an election poll challenger, as an adjunct social work faculty, as a national radio correspondent, and held leadership positions within the Michigan Democratic Party LGBTQ+ Caucus, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity, and the LanSINGout Men’s Chorus.

Duane is a published author, activist, guest speaker, musician, and operates his own photography business. In his free time Duane enjoys traveling, painting, Crossfit, reading, and spending quality time with family and friends.
