Ways to get involved with LPC Proposed Practice Changes
NASW-Michigan released a clarifying statement earlier in the week to help the many social workers who called and emailed with questions regarding the Licensed Professional Counseling Proposed Practice Changes.
Since the release of our statement, we have heard from many members asking for guidance on how they can advocate regarding this issue. The two most effective ways to advocate at this time are:
- Attend Public Hearing and Submit Comments :
A public hearing will take place on behalf of the proposed changes to the General Rules for Licensed Professional Counselors
When : Friday, October 4, 2019. 9:00 am
Where: G. Mennen Williams Building Auditorium 525 W Ottawa Street Lansing Michigan
Details can be found here: https://www.michigan.gov/documents/lara/10.4.2019_Public_Hearing_Notice_665889_7.pdf
2. Contact Ways and Means Committee Leaders
Chair Rep. Brandt Iden of the Ways and Means Committee
517-373-1774
BrandtIden@house.mi.gov
Rep. Rebekah Warren, Vice-Chair of the Ways and Means Committee
Email: RebekahWarren@house.mi.gov
Phone: (517) 373-1792
Contact these Representatives to see when HB 4325 will get a hearing and choose how you would like to proceed with the issue.
