Your Leadership is Needed! A Call for NASW-Michigan Board of Directors

Are you ready to take your social work career to the next level? NASW-Michigan  is looking for creative, committed, and involved social workers to serve on our Board of Directors, the Chapter Committee on Nominations and Leadership Identification (CCNLI), and the Chapter Ethics Committee. Elections take place in the Spring/Summer of each year with terms beginning on July 1. Terms for all positions are three years except for student representatives, which are one year terms.

Listed below are the open positions for the 2016 NASW- Michigan Chapter elections. Deadline for applications is May 20, 2016.

 

NASW-Michigan Board of Directors - The NASW-Michigan Chapter is governed by a 19-member Board of Directors, comprised of members elected by the general membership. Please click here to see a list of current board members and here to view the current chapter bylaws.

  • Vice President of Standards and Services (3 year term)
  • Treasurer (3 year term)
  • Secretary (3 year term)
  • Regional 3 Representative – Northeast Michigan (3 year term)
  • Regional 7 Representative – Flint/The Thumb (3 year term)
  • Regional 8 Representative –Oakland/Macomb Counties (3 year term)
  • BSW Student Representative (1 year term)
  • MSW  Student Representative (1 year term)

Description: https://naswmi.site-ym.com/resource/resmgr/Images/RegionalMap.gifChapter Committee on Nominations and Leadership Identification (CCNLI) - The CCNLI is responsible for annually developing of a slate of candidates for available positions on the Board of Directors and the Delegate Assembly, making recommendations for National committee activities, and developing a leadership roster for Presidential appointments.

All leadership positions require active status as a NASW member in good standing.

Chapter Ethics Committee - The NASW Michigan Chapter Ethics Committee (CEC) reviews and resolves complaints of alleged violations of the NASW Code of Ethics by chapter members. This responsibility is fulfilled in conjunction with the National Ethics Committee (NEC) and adheres to the NASW Procedures for Professional Review as established by NASW as part of its peer review process. The CEC is also responsible for providing consultation, education, and training on ethical issues to NASW members in coordination with the State Chapter office, NEC, and the national Office of Ethics and Professional Review.  

 

The CEC is seeking several licensed master social workers to fill open three-year positions on the committee. If you are interested in joining the CEC please send a resume and interest statement to Duane Breijak, Director of Member Services & Development, at dbreijak@nasw-michigan.org.
