Catholic Social Services earns Non-Profit of the Month award

MARQUETTE - Catholic Social Services of the Upper Peninsula has been named the August 2014 Non-Profit of the Month by the National Association of Social Workers - Michigan Chapter.

Catholic Social Services of the Upper Peninsula has been serving Upper Peninsula communities for nearly 100 years.

The agency was established in 1915 to help nurture, stabilize and strengthen families and serve the poor.

Catholic Social Services of the Upper Peninsula provides:

- Counseling for mental health needs and addiction recovery.

- Adoption and foster care services.

- Prisoner re-entry programs.

- Community outreach efforts to address the needs of the diverse populations in the area.

"On behalf of the dedicated professionals serving with Catholic Social Services of the U.P., I thank NASW-Michigan for recognizing their efforts at helping numerous Upper Peninsula families in need," Catholic Social Services of the Upper Peninsula Executive Director Kyle Rambo said of the award. "The social workers of CSSUP are often a source of hope and inspiration for the poor."

Rambo added that the demand for social work in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is significant.

Catholic Social Services of the Upper Peninsula social workers have dedicated themselves at sharing their healing gifts with all those who ask for our help.

"Our goal is to continue to serve even more children and families of the U.P.," said Rambo. "We promise to continue to perform as good stewards and continue to improve and develop our organization to support this goal."

Catholic Social Services of the Upper Peninsula has been a long-standing advocate for their social work staff and has been a host to monthly continuing education events for several years.

The current social workers on staff are:

Pamela Aalto, Diane Tryan, David Dill, Tom Zinski, Tricia Emery, Jill Esterly-Jayne, Catherine St. John, Will Shampo, Jennifer Reynolds, Kristine Wiethoff, Tracy Kolich, Susan Uballe, Judy Krause, and Polly Wilson.
