At the conclusion of every Fall and Winter semester, 14 outstanding students are chosen for UM-Flint’s highest undergraduate honor. The hand-selected few, nominated based on their coursework and extracurricular activities, will be honored at the commencement ceremony. Meet our Winter semester Maize and Blue scholars.
Kristin McBride will graduate with a Bachelor of social work and a minor in substance abuse treatment. She is currently serving as president of Phi Alpha Honor Society, vice president of Social Work Club, and as “Mommy” to a busy toddler. She has been involved with community service work with Golden Key Honor Society, Black Student Union and UM-Flint’s Commitment to Service program. Kristin has a passion for women’s studies, race relations, and substance abuse treatment and plans to use her social work knowledge and varied experiences to improve conditions in urban communities through legislation and advocacy. She will be attending University of Michigan in the fall and will graduate with their Master of Social Work degree in August of 2015.
