Eastern Michigan University’s Center for the Study of Equality and Human
Right (CSEHR) will premiere LGBT research during its 2014 Equality
Speaker Series.
Each month, from January to April, researchers
from Eastern Michigan University, Michigan State University, Saginaw
Valley State University, and University of Nevada – Reno will present
the findings of their research in McKenny Union (Room 247) on Eastern
Michigan University’s campus.
February’s speaker will be Jon
Wargo, doctoral candidate at Michigan State University. At 12 p.m.
Friday, Feb. 7, Wargo will present "Elastic Literacies: Mapping Queer
Identities and the Social Fault Lines on (In) Equality in Educational
Spaces,” which will explore the connective literacy experiences of three
LGBT youth writers in the United States.
March 20, Natalie Dove
of Eastern Michigan University and Randal Brown, doctoral candidate at
University of Nevada – Reno will present "Promoting Equal Rates of STI
Testing of LGBT Individuals” which will explore marketing campaigns
directed at the individual verses their relationship of an LGBT
population.
Wrapping up the series on April 11, Stephen Rassi
from the School of Social Work (NASW Member) will present "Understanding Practice
Issues with Transgender People: Listening to Practitioner and Client
Voices”.
