Immigration 101 - 2 Implicit Bias CEs

 

All Michigan social workers are invited to a virtual CE event on Friday, June 5, 2026 from 1:00- 3:00 pm.

 2 Implicit Bias CE Credits

The learning objectives are:
1. Define immigration and distinguish between major immigration statuses and legal categoreis
2. Describe the structure of the US immigration system, including key agencies and courts
3. Explain the asylum and refugee processes and the legal standards required for protection
Identify the psychological and mental health impacts of immigration stress, trauma and acculturation
5. Recognize the unique vulnerabilities of undocumented, mixed status and detained populations 
6. Apply culturally informed and trauma sensitive practices when working with immigrant clients. 

 We are excited for this opportunity to learn with therapists and co-owners of Elevated Therapeautic Services, LLC - Jenny Bishop, LMSW and Holly DeVivo, LMSW-Clinical.
