Human-Animal Bond Workgroup Presents Holding the Bond: Supporting Clients Through Animal Loss in Social Work Practice

All Michigan social workers are invited to a virtual CE event on Wednesday, April 22 from 12:00 - 1:00 pm.

 1.0 Ethics CE Credits

Animal loss is a profound and often underestimated form of grief that can deeply impact clients’ emotional, relational, and occupational functioning. Social workers are increasingly encountering clients whose losses involve companion animals, working animals, or animals central to identity, safety, and meaning. This one-hour virtual workshop will explore the human–animal bond, common grief responses following animal loss, and practical, trauma-informed interventions social workers can use to validate, support, and ethically respond to this form of disenfranchised grief. Emphasis will be placed on clinical language, assessment considerations, and interventions that honor both the client and the human-animal bond.
