Capitol Action DayTuesday, March 17 | 9:00am - 2:00pm ETLansing - Lansing Central United Methodist Church
Social workers and mental health professionals, it's time to make your voices heard!
Capitol Action Day is NASW-Michigan’s annual advocacy event. It’s a day when we can come together, as social workers, to advocate for the policies that will help us provide better services to our communities and better serve the profession. At Capitol Action Day, we’ll have a chance to talk with legislators about the issues that impact our profession and workforce.
Capitol Action Day is open to both social work students and professionals. Attendees will visit their legislators throughout the day via legislative appointments of groups of 5-8 (based off the provided zip code).
NASW-Michigan cannot do this alone. We NEED your presence in this process! Your advocacy is crucial to ensure successful passage of legislation and budget commitments that will address our concerns and support an expansive and responsive mental health delivery system.
Virtual Pre-Event Prep WebinarsTo help attendees feel confident and prepared, NASW-MI is hosting two virtual “Preparing for Capitol Action Day” webinars. These sessions will review:
- What to expect on Capitol Action Day
- How to effectively engage with legislators
- Key advocacy messaging and legislative priorities
- Tips for making the most of legislative meetings
