Legal and Ethical Issues with Informed Consent and Telehealth

Thursday, March 12 | 2:00 - 5:00pm ET | 3.0  Ethics CEs

Virtual Zoom - Synchronous

This three-hour training will explore the legal and ethical considerations that shape informed consent and telehealth practice in social work. In addition, we will take a look at where telehealth is at today and explore together, some of the pros and cons of using telehealth. We will look at, and explore, how the NASW Code of Ethics, the Michigan Public Health Code, and other Michigan laws guide us in these areas. Furthermore, we will examine what valid informed consent is, how do you know you have it, how to document it, and look at informed consent forms. Case scenarios will be discussed, as well.

Objectives:

  1. Participants will understand the legal and ethical considerations with informed consent.
  2. Participants will understand the legal and ethical considerations with telehealth.
  3. Participants will understand valid informed consent and how to document it.
