Certificate in Core Supervision

Virtual | 12.0 CEs | October 17 - November 1


With over 6,500 students currently enrolled in Michigan Schools of Social Work, the demand for social work supervision has increased tremendously over the last decade. In order to meet this demand, we developed a comprehensive, ethically-based training that will prepare you to step into the role of supervisor.

This certificate offers 12.0 total CE hours, including 5.0 Ethics CE hours.

Core Supervision Development Goals

In addition to earning your Certificate in Core Supervision you will increase your supervision skills and develop your ability to:

  • Understand the theoretical models of supervision
  • Understand the theories of power, influence & authority
  • Use ethical decision-making models
  • Identify the learning needs for supervisees
  • Establish learning objectives for supervisees
  • Utilize evidence-based techniques that include: [1] Improving communication skills, [2] Building your relationship skills, and [3] Developing your interactional skills

Qualifications

  • You must be a fully licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
  • You must have a minimum of 3 years of practice experience
  • You do not have any administrative or ethical sanctions on your license
  • You must be available to provide at least 4 hours of supervision each month

What is Included

  • 12.0 total CE hours (5.0 live/synchronous CEs, 7.0 on-demand/asynchronous CEs), including 5.0 Ethics CE hours. CEs also count towards general MCBAP credits.
  • 5 separate learning modules to be completed independently prior to the live session
  • 1 live (virtual) Q & A session
  • Supervision Certification by NASW-Michigan
  • Complimentary listing for one year on the NASW-Michigan Chapter's "Michigan Social Work Supervision Directory"
  • Course materials, including a supervision contract template and weekly logs
