NASW-Michigan is thrilled to announce the launch of our new R.I.S.E. Campaign School - Running for Impact, Social Workers for Equity – a two-day training series dedicated to empowering social workers and mental health advocates to step into political leadership. Through this program, we aim to equip social workers with the skills and insights needed to create meaningful change in our communities.

Event Details:

Day 1 (Virtual): Saturday, February 15, 2025
Day 2 (In-Person): Saturday, February 22, 2025 (NASW-Michigan will be facilitating our in-person day at University of Michigan)

We invite social workers across the country to join us virtually for Day 1 and encourage other NASW chapters to consider hosting their own in-person events. Together, let’s drive the goal of involving more social workers, mental health advocates, and students in political spaces.

Program Highlights:

Day 1 (Virtual) | 6 CEs (1.5 Ethics)
Introduction & Expectations: Define your “why” and set goals for political leadership.
Social Work & Campaign Basics 101: Discover why social workers are essential in public office.
Fundraising Fundamentals: Learn ethical fundraising and build financial support.
Communication Strategies: Develop and communicate a strong, persuasive campaign message.
Relational Organizing & Movement Building: Build grassroots coalitions for lasting impact.
Elected Official/Social Worker Panel: Hear real insights from social workers in politics.

Day 2 (In-Person) | 5 CEs (1 Implicit Bias)
Legislative Work Beyond Elected Positions: Explore policy work in staff and advisory roles.
Social Justice & Representation: Learn strategies to advocate for equity in policy.
Voter Engagement & Field Strategy: Mobilize and engage your voter base effectively.
Perfecting Your Elevator Pitch: Practice conveying your campaign vision confidently.
Tools & Resources with NASW-Michigan: Access continued support and training.

If you are with another NASW chapter and are interested in participating, please us know by December 23rd, 2024. If you have any questions, please email Dana Paglia-King at dpaglia.naswmi@socialworkers.org.

We hope you can join us!
