Many Voices, One Mission: Addressing Implicit Bias and Racism in Social Work

All Michigan social workers are invited to the June 17, 2022 Conference, Many Voices, One Mission: Addressing Implicit Bias and Racism in Social Work. This conference will explore critical racial and social justice conversations in the field and provide direct ways for social workers to take action in their practices and communities. Additionally, at the conclusion of the event there will be a virtual Advocacy and Resource Fair, where we invite you to connect to social justice organizations and learn of open career opportunities.

6.5 CEs (live synchronous) will be available (including ethics). This conference will also meet the Michigan implicit bias training requirements.

NASW-Michigan’s Social Justice & Anti-Racism Committee is the key organizer for the event, and is working to put on an exceptional program. If you are interested in presenting and would like to share your expertise with social workers in Michigan by complete the RFP.

After registering, you will be emailed a registration receipt. Additional details for access the conference platform will be emails to attendees prior to the conference start date.


This live virtual conference is approved for 6.5 social work CEs through the Michigan Continuing Education Collaborative, and counts as towards the live, synchronous requirement. Credits will also cover Michigan's implicit bias training requirements.

Morning Keynote


Linda Sarsour is an author, award-winning racial justice and civil rights activist, seasoned community organizer and mother of three.  Ambitious, outspoken and independent, Linda shatters stereotypes of Muslim women while also treasuring her religious and ethnic heritage. She is a Palestinian Muslim American and a self-proclaimed “pure New Yorker, born and raised in Brooklyn!”

 

Recognized for her award-winning intersectional work, she served as national cochair of the Women’s March, helping to organize the largest single-day protest in US history. The former executive director of the Arab American Association of New York and cofounder of the first Muslim online organizing platform, MPower Change, she is also a founding member of Justice League NYC.
