This webinar will include a diverse panel of macro-level experiences to provide an overview of what career paths exist, how to search for jobs, resources on helpful pieces of training and skills, and how the NASW can assist your career!

Panelists: - Nichelle Curtis-McQueen, MSW has a BSW from University of Indianapolis and MSW from Simmons University (formally known as Simmons College). Nichelle is originally from Indiana and has lived in Washington since 2012. She currently lives in Federal Way, WA, and is the co-chair the City of Federal Way Diversity Commission. She currently works for the State of Washington Juvenile Rehabilitation at an institution called Green Hill School as a compliance manager. She has worked for this agency since 2012 when she moved to Washington.
- Dr. Victor Manalo, PhD, MSW, is the President of the NASW-CA Chapter Board of Directors and President-Elect of the NASW Council of Chapter Presidents. He is a retired university professor, former city councilman and Mayor, and local government consultant. He earned a Ph.D. in Social Work from the University of Southern California and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from California State University, Long Beach, and he continues to teach graduate and undergraduate social welfare policy, policy practice, and community organizing. From 2007-2018, he served on the Artesia City Council in Southeast Los Angeles County, California. He continues to serve as a Planning Commissioner for the city and as a member of the board of directors of a local nonprofit. As a consultant, he engages local governments to address pedestrian safety, redistricting, child abuse and neglect, and resources for children, youth, and families.
- Shannon Schell, MSW has worked in legislative advocacy for nearly 10 years first in Arizona and now in Colorado. She has her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work and with an emphasis on public policy. Through her career she has advocated on behalf of survivors of sexual and domestic violence, housing, funding for human services, and K-12 public education.
