The Executive Committee is empowered by the Board to act as its agent between board meetings. Except in an emergency, the Executive Committee will not change actions previously taken by the Board. The Executive Committee must report its activities and actions to the Board at regular scheduled Board meetings or special session Board meetings. The Executive Committee consists of the officers, president-elect as an ex-officio non-voting member and an additional 2 Board members to be elected by the Board members.
Between Board meetings, the Executive Committee has the powers of the Board of Directors to address critical or time sensitive issues or to complete specific directions established by the Board within the general policies, program, and budget established by the Board, except that decisions regarding the employment status of the Executive Director are reserved for the full board.
Chapter Committee On Nominations & Leadership Identification (CCNLI)
The CCNLI is responsible for annually developing of a slate of candidates for available positions on the Board of Directors and the Delegate Assembly, making recommendations for National committees activities, and developing a leadership roster for Presidential appointments.Social Workers ARE Leaders!

The Finance Committee is responsible for developing a budget, financial guidelines and supervising the financial affairs of the Chapter. They will devlop and implement an ongoing mechanism and accountability system to review, monitor, and evaluate all programs advanced by the committee in their annual plan. Assessments will adress the achievements and progress towards goals and objectives.
Legislative & Social Policy Committe (LSP)
The Chapter’s Legislative & Social Policy (LSP) Committee recommends Board positions on social and legislative action and develops the Chapter’s legislative advocacy agenda. The Committee educates and engages the membership in the legislative process, administrative actions, and ballot initiatives that affect social workers and their client populations. NASW has a strong commitment to political action and advocacy and this Committee provides a way for the Chapter and its members to engage in critical political issues.
This Committee develops its legislative agenda and responds to State and Federal legislative initiatives by working closely with the chapter’s Special Interest Groups (SIGs) to review, develop and advocate for State and Federal Legislative and Budget actions that benefit social workers and Michigan’s citizens. It comprises a cross section of member social workers from various fields such as child welfare, gerontology, health care, corrections, mental health, education, community development, LGBT, public policy, domestic violence and women’s issues. It is a resource for the Chapter’s staff and lobby firm and coordinates meetings for members with State legislators.
NASW-MI's Program Committee is responsible for statewide program planning; for the review, monitoring and evaluation of all programs of the Chapter (both local and state). The Program Committee should support the NASW-MI staff in accomplishing the long-term continuing education goals of the Association as set by the Board of Directors.
Chapter Ethics Committee
The NASW Michigan Chapter Ethics Committee (CEC) reviews and resolves complaints of alleged violations of the NASW Code of Ethics by chapter members. This responsibility is fulfilled in conjunction with the National Ethics Committee (NEC) and adheres to the NASW Procedures for Professional Review as established by NASW as part of its peer review process. The CEC is also responsible for providing consultation, education, and training on ethical issues to NASW members in coordination with the State Chapter office, NEC, and the national Office of Ethics and Professional Review.

Michigan Political Action For Candidate Election (M-PACE) Steering Committee
Social workers traditionally have been committed to improving the American life through voluntary association of a sociopolitical nature. The involvement of social workers in social movements and political processes has taken many forms and concentrated on various elements needing improvement in American society and government, depending on many factors within the profession’s development.
In recent years, social workers from the National Association of Social Workers, have sought to renew and strengthen their organizational and professional focus in the political process by forming a national voluntary association for collective action, which is the Political Action for Candidate Election (PACE). To secure the benefits of similar participation in chapter political processes, the following charter is established to define a political action group for professional social workers in the Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers – Michigan (NASW-MI).
The political action committee for social workers in the Chapter of NASW-MI shall be formally called Michigan - Political Action for Candidate Election (MPACE).
