Research indicates that not only does the inclusion of religion and spirituality have the potential to enhance health and mental health outcomes, but clients prefer such integration in treatment. To this end, and considering that social workers constitute 45 percent of clinically trained helping professionals, it is important for the social work profession to clearly understand what supports or hinders practitioners from considering this sensitive area of clients’ lives.

Learning Objectives:

  1. To provide a forum for social workers to talk about how they keep their personal values and spiritual beliefs out of the client-worker encounter
  2. To explore ethical practice when personal values and religious beliefs and practices are very different from the client

Presenter: Bonnie Holiday, Ph.D., LMSW, ACSW, directs the CSWE accredited social work programs offered at Spring Arbor University, an evangelical, Christian university. In this conservative environment she works to help her students distinguish their beliefs from the client's and how to practice in an ethical manner.

Once registering and paying for the course you will get access to view the webinar (through a downloadable pdf file), as well as receive a link to complete the post test. Attendees need to answer 80% of the content questions correctly in order to receive credit for the course. All continuing education certificates will be emailed within 30 days of completion of the post test.
