Be Active, Be Engaged, Be Informed.

The National Association of Social Workers—Michigan Chapter is launching an action network for students and new professionals!

SPEAKUP! is looking for passionate and motivated individuals to engage in political advocacy efforts in Michigan (and beyond!). The steering team of SPEAKUP! have been working hard to get everything up and running! We are currently gathering opportunities, resources, and information for you all, and we are also planning a few exciting events for 2017.

We have grown our membership numbers over 300% in the last 2 months! We are so excited about the motivation and passion displayed by our fellow social workers and social work students about policy and advocacy!

We are dedicated to empowering each of you to advocate for the things that you are passionate about. In 2017, our inaugural year, we intend to provide you with:

·         A monthly newsletter with policy and advocacy initiative updates. We will break down policy, legal jargon, and other macro issues so that it is easy for you to remain informed!

·         Frequent opportunities to volunteer on existing campaigns that align with your passions and interests. We have reached out to many local, state, and national nonprofits and advocacy initiatives in order to set up working partnerships. Through these partnerships, you will be able to easily find out about advocacy efforts that are currently happening in Michigan and how you can help!

·         Training events and webinars to empower you to embark on your own advocacy journeys!

For students of social work, you may be able to include volunteer opportunities, meetings, and events in your internship learning agreements!

To elevate our communities by empowering professionals and advocates with relevant information and resources.
