Welcome to the social work student community in Michigan! You are part of 6,500 social work students across our state that are working towards their degree and licenses, including us.  We would like to introduce ourselves as the BSW and MSW student representatives for the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Michigan Chapter.  Our role as student representatives is to represent you and your voice in NASW, and to best serve you to succeed in your respective program.
We strive to collaboratively convey your concerns, questions, and praises to pursue creating a better association and are most effective in these efforts when we have strong student support!  If you want to make a difference on campus through NASW-MI and represent your fellow students, please consider reaching out and applying to U-Link, NASW’s Student Advocacy campus-based initiative.  The deadline for application submissions is Saturday, September 30th.  More information can be found here.  If you are unable to participate at this level, please strongly consider attending the annual Legislative, Education and Advocacy Day (LEAD) on Wednesday, November 1 in Lansing where social work students from all over Michigan will be able to attend a variety of break-out groups, listen to presenters that are leaders in social justice, and build networking relationships with fellow future colleagues and peers.
NASW-MI has put together a key resources list for social work students, which you can find below (emailed out on 9/26).  We hope that this information will aid you during your studies and as you transition into the professional world.  Additionally, you can join our Facebook page for Michigan social work students at which is a collaborative page between us and Director of Member Services, Duane Breijak, LMSW.

As we move forward in the semester, remain diligent in working from our professional values and principles, but also remember to support one another in this journey of growth.  Please reach out to either of us through our emails listed below should you need anything.  Again, a warm welcome to you all, and best wishes for a great year!
