 All Michigan social workers are invited to a CE event organized by Region 5 on Friday, August 4 from 3-4:30pm . In this workshop, learn about how the use of current superhero media can promote client critical consciousness and engagement in treatment. 1 CE Credit is available for licensed attendees. This workshop is being offering in-person and virtually. Learning Objectives: Contextualize superhero media integration as a critical therapeutic strategy for creating brave spaces for clients to engage trauma work critically and creatively in therapy sessions Illustrate how superhero media integration into therapeutic spaces can deconstruct trauma and frame it through creating exploratory narrative spaces for client playful exploration and practice in therapy sessions Demonstrate the efficacy of superhero media integration in creating immediacy and action-oriented client responses in session through stoking creativity, promoting perspective analysis, and establishing cultural connection NASW Members - Free Future Members - $10 Where: Zoom or Veterans Memorial Library, Founders Room - Mt. Pleasant, MI Presented by Chris Fike, Region 5 Representative on the NASW-MI Board of Directors. Chris works as a social worker with Partners in Change in Midland and with McDowell Healing Arts in Saginaw. Chris is a former faculty member in the Department of Social Work & Youth Services at Saginaw Valley State University. Chris approaches his work using decolonizing, anti-racist, and anti-oppressive theories and practices. |
