Mindfulness and Self-Compassion for Self-Care Continuing Education Workshop (1.5 CEUs)
Mindful Detroit and NASW-Michigan
Tuesday, October 12th, 2019 6:30-8pm
At i3 Wellness, 1300 Broadway, Detroit, MI 48226

This workshop will give social workers practical tools to use in their everyday lives for self-care. Participants will explore the concepts of mindfulness and self-compassion using interactive activities including meditation, mindful movement, and reflective writing. The research on these practices for self-care will also be examined. Common barriers to self-care, such as compassion fatigue and burnout, and how to address those, will also be explored. Participants will walk away with a toolbox of resources to help them on their self-care journey. Caitlin Brown, Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher, Licensed Master of Social Work, and founder of Mindful Detroit, will lead the workshop.

Objectives: After completing this workshop, I am able to....

  • Define self-compassion, compassion fatigue, and compassion satisfaction
  • Understand the basic concepts of mindfulness
  • Identify mindfulness and self-compassion practices to use in my own life for self-care.

1.5 CEs available. $15 for NASW members, $20 for future members.
