Working with TGNC Youth and Families - 1.5 CE


Presenter: Susan Radzilowski, MSW, LMSW, ACSW, IMH-E®, ECMH-E® 


As a result of systemic oppression, Trans & Gender Nonconforming (TGNC) youth are at increased risk for social and mental health issues such as depression, school difficulties, adult exploitation, substance abuse, family alienation and homelessness.  This workshop will provide a brief overview of best practices of working with TGNC youth and families.


Learning objectives


1.      Increase awareness of risk factors unique to LGBTQ youth with regard to homelessness, exploitation, educational discrimination and risk factors for mental health factors.

2.      Increase ability to understand and use an ethical framework for making treatment decisions.

3.      Become familiar with  2 evidence-based practices to support TGNC youth and families.

4.      Learn at least affirming terms, definitions, and concepts which pertain to providing services to the transgender community.
