Wounded Warrior Project: A voice of veteran advocacy and PTSD awareness

Thursday, September 26, 2019. Time TBA (evening event for 2 CEs)

*Held at the Holiday Inn Battle Creek, NOT the Battle Creek VA

Warriors Speak® is a group of wounded veterans and caregivers who share their motivational stories of service and sacrifice with the public to raise awareness for the needs of this generation’s injured military service members, their families, and caregivers. Our veterans advocacy and warrior speakers share how Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) aided in their recovery process and helped in the transition back to civilian life. Our caregiver spokespeople share the often-untold stories of what it’s like on the other side of that life-changing experience and how WWP was there not only for their loved ones, but for them as well. Specific speaker(s) will be announced soon.

Keynote Speakers:

Consuelo Castillo Kickbusch is a renowned, charismatic, passionate and influential speaker with a mission to empower the next generation of leaders. Throughout her career, Consuelo has shared her personal knowledge on becoming an effective leader in today’s global marketplace with hundreds of schools, colleges, universities, corporations, and government institutions both in the U.S. and abroad.

Born and raised along the border in a small barrio in Laredo, Texas, Consuelo Castillo Kickbusch is all too familiar with the challenges of poverty, discrimination and illiteracy. Although she grew up without material wealth, Consuelo was taught by her immigrant parents that she was rich in culture, tradition, values and faith.

After paroling prison on December 13, 2008, Tony Hoffman started living out his dream, with his addiction behind him. Tony is a Former BMX Elite Pro and placed 2nd at the 2016 World Championships in Medellin Colombia in the Masters Pro class. He is a 2016 Rio Olympic Games Coach, with Women’s BMX PRO, Brooke Crain, in his lineup. His story is full of redemption as he has seen some of the highest highs, and the lowest lows. Tony is the Founder and Director of The Freewheel Project, a non-profit organization that mentors thousands of youth through action sports: BMX, skateboarding and after-school programs. The Freewheel Project focuses on teaching kids leadership skills, and making healthy life choices, including substance abuse prevention, each year.
