The workshop will focus on the current status of the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act (MMMA) of 2008 on children and families in Michigan. Presenters are representatives from My Compassion, the first and only 501(C) 3 Nonprofit in Michigan offering federal recognition for training and education in the field of responsible medical cannabis use. 1.5 CEs will be offered to attendees.

 

Included in the workshop will be a description of My Compassion, the organization’s mission and goals, who they are and what they do. Dialog will revolve around understanding medical cannabis use in homes with minors and community response.  Resources will be offered that provide integrity and structure in support of patients and their families in their efforts to navigate the contradictory and damaging obstacles to responsibility, accountability and availability that are enmeshed in the community’s established social, political and legal structure.

 

Learning Objectives:

 

1. Participants will be updated on the status of the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act of 2008, and the impact this state law is having on Michigan families and communities.

2. Participants will be educated about medical cannabis use in the home with minors.

3. Participants will be informed about the first and only 501(C) 3 Nonprofit in Michigan dedicated to providing education and information with regard to the use of therapeutic cannabis.
